Tokujin Yoshioka

Tokujin Yoshioka is a Japanese designer, born in 1967 and studied at the Kuwasawa Design School, graduating in 1986. In 1992 he began his professional career as a freelance designer. He collaborated for ten years with Shiro Kuramata and Issey Miyake. In 2000 he opened his own studio in Tokyo, realized numerous important projects including the Issey Miyake and A-POC stores, the installation entitled "Issey Miyake Making Things" for the Cartier foundation in Paris. In 2002 he created the "Honey-pop" and "Tokyo-pop" staging for Driade. The Tokyo-pop collection is among the best known and includes a sofa, an armchair, a day bed, a high table and some stools. He has received numerous international awards and his works are exhibited in the permanent collections of the most important museums in the world. For the Kartell brand he created the Planet family of lamps, proposed in the suspension, table and floor lamp versions, whose main feature is the ovoid transparent diffuser with a faceted surface able to diffuse the light with a casual effect.
